Upgrading to ArcGIS 9.2
This
document provides recommended instructions for upgrading to OSPInSight 2.0.6,
which supports ArcGIS 9.2 SP2.
Upgrading
to ArcGIS 9.2 requires a complete uninstall of the previous ArcGIS version
installed on your computer. It is
recommended to uninstall OSPInSight prior to uninstalling the ArcGIS
version. This will help ensure a clean
uninstall of ArcGIS. To begin please
make a back up copy of the following items:
1- Registration.osp
EDIT
C:\Program
Files\OSPInSight\OSPM\OSP Manager ESRI\Edit
VIEW
C:\Program
Files\OSPInSight\OSPM\OSP Manager ESRI\View
This
file contains your OSP registration information and will prevent you from
having to re-register the software upon re-installation.
2- Setup.mdb
This
database contains your database paths and editor default settings. It is located in the following path.
C:\Program Files\OSPInSight\OSPM\OSP Manager ESRI
3- All OSPInSight user
created databases and mxd’s.
NOTE:
Do not back up anything in the C:\Program Files\OSPInSight\OSPM\OSP Manager
ESRI\Settings directory, doing so could result in program errors.
At ArcGIS
9.2 ESRI has moved to a high precision database format. While OSP will continue to work with your
current spatial reference you may want to investigate the differences between a
low precision spatial reference and a high precision spatial reference. I have provided a couple of links below.
Special
Note:
When
creating a new Personal Geodatabase (PGDB) to use with OSPInSight it is required
that the source PGDB you import your spatial references from be upgraded to 9.2
and have its spatial reference upgraded to high precision. Failing to do so will produce errors when
using the ArcCatalog Schema Wizard to create the database.
How to upgrade a personal geodatabase (PGDB).
Upgrade
your background street data PGDB to the latest PGDB build.
1- Start ArcCatalog.
2- Right-click the geodatabase you want
to upgrade and click Properties.
3- Click the General tab.
4- Click Upgrade Personal Geodatabase.
5- Click OK.
Upgrade
the spatial reference of your PGDB.
To
convert existing spatial references to high precision, use the Upgrade Spatial
Reference geoprocessing tool in the Data Management Tools toolbox under
Database. ArcToolbox
-> Data Management Tools -> Database -> Upgrade Spatial Reference.
Working with pre 9.2 spatial references.
If you
have ran the Schema Wizard prior to updating your PGDB it is recommended to
obtain a fresh copy of the OSPInSight schema file. Copy the file found at C:\Program
Files\OSPInSight\OSPM\common\ OSPInSight Schema.xml and replace it with the
file found at C:\Program Files\OSPInSight\OSPM\OSP Manager ESRI\ OSPInSight
Schema.xml. Re-create a new PGDB and
then re-run the schema wizard.
