Training Overview

AFO training is the fastest and most effective way to get the results you need from OSPInSight, and is the difference between solving network management problems and creating them. Training classes are structured to teach the theory behind the OSPInSight network management system and the basic functionality of the software including hands-on experience in documenting a network enabling you to maximize the software's capabilities upon class completion.


OSPM-Edit Basic Training

OSPM-Edit Basic Training will introduce you to OSPM-Edit and provide you with the technical information and hands-on experience needed to document a network using the software. This course will also cover some basic GIS (MapInfo Professional or ESRI ArcEditor) mapping skills necessary to complete tasks in OSPM-Edit. The basic course consists of four days of hands-on instruction that will enable you to create a network model from scratch.

At AFO Site
Class Size at AFO site: Maximum of eight participants.
Cost at AFO site: $1,500 per participant
(participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, meals, and local transportation).

Prerequisites at AFO site:
Participants must be familiar with the Windows® operating systems.
Basic understanding of telecommunications theory and terminology.
MapInfo Professional or ESRI ArcEditor training or experience recommended.

At Customer Site
Cost at Customer site: $6,000 for up to four participants, $1,500 for each additional participant up to a maximum of 8
(trainer's travel and expenses will be billed separately).

Prerequisites at Customer site:
An adequate training facility with a computer for each participant that is configured with at least the minimum requirements necessary to run the software.
A projector, white board and markers.
Participants must be familiar with the Windows® operating systems.
Basic understanding of telecommunications theory and terminology.
MapInfo Professional or ESRI ArcEditor training or experience recommended.

 

OSPM-Edit for MapInfo Advanced Training

OSPM-Edit Advanced Training consists of three days of hands-on instruction covering in-depth the more complex OSPM-Edit functions including: advanced workspaces, advanced splicing, advanced terminations, pigtail use, naming fiber groups, object tracing, custom symbols, modifying building footprints, custom labels, associating raster images, aerial photographs, point generation with spreadsheet X Y coordinates, geocoding, custom thematic maps, thematic map templates, advanced queries, integrity check reports and correcting integrity problems. Customized training specific to the user's database can be requested.

OSPM-Edit Refresher

You can arrange for instruction via the web if you need a refresher on particular OSPM-Edit features. Feature-requested mini classes can be scheduled on a per hour basis where the instructor demonstrates the specified OSPM-Edit features and answers questions.

Cost: $125 per hour per connection for the first participant.
This includes the connection to the web including audio for the trainer and the first participant. Additional participants can attend the training for $50 each per hour if they attend in the same room on the same connection as the first participant. Each additional web and audio connection to the training will be $125 for the first participant and $50 for each additional person participating from that location. This training is payable by credit card (VISA or MasterCard), check, or purchase order.

Prerequisites for Web-based Refresher: Participants must be familiar with the Windows® operating systems. Basic understanding of telecommunications theory and terminology. Must have completed OSPM-Edit Basic Training according to AFO training records.

 

OSPM-View for MapInfo Training

OSPM-View for MapInfo training consists of a one day, hands-on training class that can be taught at the customer site or over the internet. You will learn how to access information housed in OSPM-Edit using OSPM-View. You will mine for data, red-line network changes, view asset inventories, locate potential customers, perform basic queries, track fiber routes, find faults, view related documents, view splice schematics, and related OTDR traces. The course is designed for everyone from administrators and engineers to sales and marketing personnel.

Class Size at Customer site: Maximum of ten participants
Cost at Customer Site: $1,500 for up to ten participants (trainer's travel and expenses will be billed separately).
The cost of OSPM-View training via the web is $1,500 per class plus the cost of each web and audio connection at $125 per hour for the first connection and $50 per hour for each additional connection. Each additional web and audio connection to the training will be $125 for the first participant and $50 for each additional person participating from that location. The class can accommodate up to ten participants. This training is payable by credit card (VISA or MasterCard), check, or purchase order.

OSPM-Admin Training

This is a two-day course for database administrators and report managers to learn network setup, password changes, centralizing multiple networks and setting global options for multi-user editing and viewing. You will also learn how to link network databases for advanced reports including network statistics and cable span analysis. Finally, you will learn how to use "Integrity Check" to verify the accuracy of your network configuration, its elements and connectivity and how to fix any problems found.

OSPM-Web Training

This two-day course provides web masters with instruction and experience in setting up and using OSPM-Web in order to deploy OSPM data companywide. It explains how OSPM-Admin and MapInfo MapXtreme are used with the OSPM-Web to generate reports viewed on the web.

Per Function OSPM-Edit Training

You can arrange for per-function instruction via the web on any OSPM-Edit feature or group of features. Cost: $125 per hour per connection for the first participant. Training Locations

AFO Site
Our main training facility is located at our corporate offices in North Salt Lake, Utah conveniently located near several hotels and numerous restaurants. On-Site (Customer's Site)
AFO personnel have traveled the world over to train its customers and get them started right with OSPInSight. To schedule On-Site training we recommend that you contact our training department at least one month in advance. Web Site
AFO provides web-based training for all of its courses. This is especially helpful when the type of training or the customer's circumstances makes it more convenient for them to participate from their own desktop via the internet. To schedule Web training we recommend that you contact our training department at least two weeks in advance. Training Policies

Registration
A completed registration form, with signature, is required from each student. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. An incomplete registration form or a form unaccompanied with payment will not be processed, and may delay class reservation.

On-Site Training
The customer must provide an adequate training facility with a computer for each student, a projector, a white board and markers. The customer must provide training computers with the following minimum requirements: 128 mb ram, 500 mb free hard disk space, 8 mb on graphic card, mouse and mouse pad. The customer must install software and training data prior to beginning of class (In the event that the trainer is required to install the software and data, additional set up and consulting fees will apply).

Web Training
The customer must provide training computers with the following minimum requirements: 500 Mhz processor, 128 mb ram, 500 mb free hard disk space, 8 mb on graphic card, mouse and mouse pad. The customer must have installed software and training data prior to beginning of class.

Travel Restrictions
AFO reserves the right to refuse training at or travel through any location or region that it deems unsafe for its trainers. When such circumstances arise, AFO shall make every reasonable effort to provide training at an alternate location near the same region mutually agreed upon by both parties.

Prices listed herein are only good for thirty (30) days. AFO, Inc. reserves the right to change pricing information and/or course specifications without notice.

Warranty
No warranty, expressed or implied, is given herewith.

Payment Terms and Conditions
Customers within the United States (Resident Customers) must submit a purchase order or payment by check, VISA or MasterCard in order to register for AFO-site or Web-site training classes. If Resident Customers elect to issue a purchase order for AFO-site or Web-site training, the Resident Customer will be invoiced and payment must be received prior to the beginning of the training class. Registration for On-site training within the US for Resident Customers must be accompanied by a purchase order including all training fees plus all estimated AFO trainer travel related expenses. AFO shall bill the Resident Customer for actual AFO trainer travel related expenses, which may exceed the estimated expenses by 10% without customer approval. Any AFO trainer travel related expenses beyond 10% of the estimated expenses will require Resident Customer approval.

Customers outside the United States (Non-Resident Customers) must submit payment in full by wire transfer, VISA or MasterCard in order to register for AFO-site, On-Site or Web-site training classes. Payment for registration of On-site training for Non-Resident Customers shall include all training fees plus all estimated AFO trainer travel related expenses. AFO shall bill the Non-Resident Customer for actual AFO trainer travel related expenses that exceed the estimated costs by 10% without customer approval. Any AFO trainer travel related expenses beyond 10% of the estimated expenses will require Non-Resident Customer approval.

PROCESSING FEES AND REFUNDS
Due to limited class size, AFO must maintain firm policies concerning fees and refunds. Each individual trainee's training fee includes a $100 nonrefundable data processing fee. The training fee, less the data processing fee, will be refunded if notice of cancellation is received at least 11 business days prior to the AFO-site class start date and 15 days prior to the On-site class start date. Full course fee will be charged for those who fail to appear or who cancel or reschedule 10 business days or fewer before the AFO-site class start date or 14 business days or fewer before the On-site class start date. Trainees can re-register for a future class** for 50% off list price. (**Students may re-register for up to six months for original course. Subject to availability). All prices are subject to change without notice.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Trainee substitutions are allowed, without $100 data processing fee, provided AFO is notified in advance to class start date.

CLASS SCHEDULE CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS
It is sometimes necessary to change the date a class is offered or to cancel a class. Registrants will be contacted at the earliest opportunity in the event of a scheduling change or cancellation.

TRAVEL
Transportation to training site is the trainee's responsibility. AFO assumes no responsibility for losses of nonrefundable travel arrangements resulting from course scheduling changes or cancellations. All On-site classes require trainer travel and living expenses to be paid by customer.

LODGING
Trainees are responsible for their own lodging arrangements. Once registered, trainees are provided with a confirmation letter via fax or email. This letter will notify you of the training site location and directions, and may list other site details such as area hotels.

COURSE MATERIALS
There will be two short breaks and one-hour for lunch (meal not provided). Casual dress is suggested. All course materials are provided at the training site.

Training Software Installation
It is the customer's responsibility to acquire and install all necessary training software, including OSPInSight and GIS software, on all On-site computers. In most cases this installation process can be accomplished with little or no assistance from AFO. However, AFO technical support is available at no cost to assist in training-software installation when necessary (800-490-3236 press 3 when prompted).

If the customer would like an AFO trainer to perform the training software installation On-site prior to training, please contact your sales representative for a price quote and to coordinate the installation with the training department. AFO trainers will require one extra day for installation.
